Do you enjoy the fun and yummy look or candles that look like food? Well its not hard to create your own yummy looking candles. All you really need are some candle molds that are shaped like your favorite foods. You can make muffins, pizza, fruits, vegetables, and just about anything else you can think of. I highly recommend using silicone molds because the candles pop out very easy once they’ve cooled.

If you are interested in making your own yummy looking candles, then here’s a simple guide:

What You Need. You can be very creative when choosing what you want your candles to look like. Buy some creative silicone molds from your favorite craft store or browse some online sites.. You will need a jar of soy or paraffin wax in the appropriate color(s), a metal saucepan, a thermometer, spoon, candle scent (optional), protective gloves and candlewicks.

Making Your Candle. You first have to melt the wax and it needs to be double boiled. If you don’t have a double boiler, put water in the bottom of a sauce pan and heat on a low flame. Put some pieces of wax in a can and place the can in the pan of water. Add more pieces of wax as it melts. You can add scent and coloring if you like. Next place your wick at the bottom of your mold and carefully pour the wax around it. Let your candle cool for at least 3 hours. If you are adding more wax (pepperoni on your pizza candle for example) then you will need to heat up more wax in the appropriate color and add to the cooled candle. Then all you need to do is trim your wicks. That’s it! You’ve created your own candle.

Display these yummy creations around your home in kitchen. Just be sure to tell everyone else so they won’t be tempted to take a bite!

Problems Making Candles: Easy Tips To Make It Work

August 6th, 2007    Subscribe To Our Feed

Do you enjoy making candles at home but run into problems along the way? Here are a few common problems and some easy solutions.

Air Bubbles. You might need to heat your wax to a hotter temperature or try pouring your wax slower. If this doesn’t work then you may need to let the wax cool more slowly (don’t put it in the fridge or on a window sill to make it cool faster).

Candle Sticking To The Container. Try rubbing a little bit of vegetable oil on the inside of your container before you pour in your wax. It should come out easier this way.

Indention In The Middle. This is unavoidable because wax will naturally contract as it cools. Wait until your candle has completely cooled and then warm up some more wax and fill in the hole.

Crack In Your Candle. This usually happens because the candle was cooled too quickly. Allow the candle to cool at room temperature. Never put it in the refrigerator or freezer.

Too Much Smoke. If there is a lot of smoke when you burn your candle then chances are you’ve used too much oil. You may also want to try to trim your wick down to 1/4 of an inch.

Too Much Flame. Trim your wick down. If your flame is too small then you may need a larger wick.

I hope these easy tips are helpful in solving your candle making problems. Remember that practice makes perfect so continue to perfect your craft by making candles and using different techniques.

Unity Candles And Weddings: Symbolizing A Special Bond

Unity candles have been used in weddings for many years so they are a fairly common wedding tradition in today’s day and age. Traditionally, a white pillar candle is surrounded by two smaller taper candles, which are displayed on a decorated table. The bride and the groom will each pick up a taper candle, and together they will light the center unity candle. This ceremony is a visual representation of the newly created bond between man and wife.

Unity Candles. Traditional unity candles are white, but some couples prefer something more unique. Its now possible to have a unity candle made with the couple’s names and wedding date with different colors and details You can also include a photo of the couple. Either way, the unity candle is a very beautiful wedding piece that the couple can keep to their special day.

If you are planning a wedding then you may consider a unity candle to symbolize the bond you and your soon to be spouse. It is no longer seen as a symbol of the end of individuality. It has evolved into a symbol of two individuals joining into a separate-and-equal bond with one another. A unity candle can be a wonderful ending to your wedding ceremony and a great way to get friends and family involved in your ceremony.

Unity Candle Traditions. Sometimes the couple will blow out the taper candles lighting the unity candle. Sometimes they leave these candles lit, which can symbolize that they are each individuals, but now joined together through marriage.

Another tradition is to have family members hold an unlit candle. At the beginning of the ceremony a single guest’s taper is lit, and one by one, everyone will light their candle. This symbolizes the family and friend’s support of the couple in their marriage. Then the couple will light their unity candle.

Made At Home Soy Candles Are A Fun And Easy Project And An All Natural Choice

Do you like to light candles everyday? Are you tired of the mess and the soot it leaves behind? Perhaps you’ve heard that petroleum based candles are carcinogenic. These are all reasons why all natural soy candles have become so popular

All natural soy candles burn more efficiently than synthetic candles. They are also easier to clean up and cost less. All natural soy candles are also just as good as any other candles when it comes to the rich and wonderful smells they can bring to your home.

If you are interested in making your own soy candles then here’s a simple guide:

What You Need. You can be very creative when choosing what containers to use for your candles. You can choose small cups or colorful decorative glasses. You will need a jar of soy wax, a metal saucepan, a thermometer, spoon, candle scent (optional), protective gloves, glass containers, candlewicks, and decorative glass beads in your choice of colors, sizes and shapes.

Making Your Soy Candle. You first have to melt the soy wax and it needs to be double boiled. If you don’t have a double boiler, put water in the bottom of a sauce pan and heat on a low flame. Put some pieces of wax in a can and place the can in the pan of water. Add more pieces of wax as it melts. You can add scent and coloring if you like. Next place your wick at the bottom of the glass container and pour some beads around it (optional). Carefully pour the wax into your glass container. Leave about a third of an inch of room at the top. Let your candle cool for at least 3 hours then trim your wicks. That’s it! You’ve created your own candle.

Crafters are going crazy over kats scented gel candles. The gooey substance that you begin with can be heated, melted and poured over various objects at the bottom of the glass container. These types of candles are absolutely beautiful and make great gifts for friends and family members. Making themed gel candles is a new marketplace so there are some basics that you should know before making your own gel candles. Don’t worry- its not a difficult project and once you get used to it you will be pouring gel candle wax over anything and everything.

What You Need. You can be very creative when choosing what containers to use for making your candles. The first thing you’ll need is a jar of gel wax, a metal saucepan, a thermometer, spoon, candle scent (optional), protective gloves, glass containers, candlewicks, and decorative glass beads in your choice of colors, sizes and shapes.

Making Your Gel Candle. Place your wick at the bottom of the glass container and pour some beads around it. Then melt your gel wax in a saucepan.
